He is the President of the China Minority Literary Association. He has published numerous poetic anthologies since the 1980s and has won national literature awards, and is considered one of the greatest poets amongst the minorities in China. Mither Tongue is however a unique introduction in both Scots and English to the work of this eminent ethnic poet from China’s Sichuan region. Jidi Majia’s work, while translated into other European and Asian languages, has never previously been available in the English-speaking world. Vagabond Voices published her response to Baudelaire’s poetry, The Sweetness of Demons, in 2021. Essays on Breaching Barriers was published in November 2020 by Luath Press. Over the years, Pia’s poetry and essays have appeared in many publications, among others The Blue Nib, Northwords Now, Poetry Scotland, Lunar Poetry, The Fat Damsel and South Bank Poetry. Its Italian translation, Ho scelto la mia lingua, was published in 2018, as was her first poetry collection, Transitory. Pia’s creative memoir, Language of My Choosing (Luath Press, 2017) was shortlisted for the Saltire Award for Best New Book of 2017, and awarded the Premio Internazionale Flaiano di Linguistica for its contribution to Italian culture in the world. The Doctorate in Education she achieved in 2008 provided the opportunity to live and study in Italy and France. Education was the means by which she achieved professional success, retiring as an HM Inspector of Education in 2009 with a specialism in adult literacy. She is the grandchild of Italian immigrants and was raised surrounded by the culture, traditions and dialect of southern Italy. Harry Potter class will be aiming to cook weekly, relating to the new topic and to work towards children’s specific independence and preparation for the future targets.Anne Pia lives in Edinburgh. Learning Together The Hive Autumn 1 Outdoor learning: We encourage the children to be more independent in their learning and taking our learning into the outdoors and out into the community. Children in the Bees Knees Class enjoy learning through exciting, sensory experiences especially with their peers. The children follow the developing and deepening pathway of learning. Our class is based over at The Hive which is a fantastic environment for the children to learn. Tracy is our full-time teaching assistant, Lauren works with us on a Monday and Tuesday and Rebekah works with us Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
